Field Service Representative - Refractory

JW Hicks, Inc. is an American manufacturing/design company located in Northern Indiana specializing in high technology ceramic products for the metals industry. Currently we are looking to add a Technical Service Representative for Refractory to our team. This person will serve as primary contact for customers regarding products and services supplied by JW Hicks. The ideal candidate is someone with a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to troubleshoot technical problems, the ability to communicate with various customers in either technical details or layman’s terms and has a heart for “Doing it Right.”

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensure proper use of JWHI products on customer site
• Respond to product performance issues; troubleshoot problems in conjunction with JWHI Engineering and Application groups
• Maintain and develop customer relationships
• Encourage/teach customers to follow proper standard operating procedures and safety features

Minimum Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 35% of the time
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with ISO standards
• Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to all levels of the customer organization
• Ability and willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Technical System Management, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent area of study
• 2 years’ Industry experience (shipyard, steel mill, or some other manufacturing plant/factory experience)
• Competence in interpreting mechanical drawings
• Steel flow control experience beneficial
• Ability to use computer software to analyze data and produce reports
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment
• Report Writing Skills
• Understanding of statistics and process control
• Familiarity with OSHA industrial safety standards
