Justin-Siena is a co-educational independent Catholic high school sponsored by the De La Salle
Christian Brothers. We serve more than 670 students from Napa, Solano, and Sonoma Counties. Our 40-acre campus is home to a college preparatory curriculum, a competitive interscholastic athletic program, a highly regarded performing arts program, and an array of co-curricular opportunities.
Position Summary
The long-term substitute teacher is responsible for providing effective instruction and delivery of the curriculum, ensuring that all lessons align with grade-level standards and learning objectives. This role includes maintaining a positive and structured classroom environment through proactive classroom management and consistent behavioral expectations. The substitute is expected to assess student progress, record grades accurately, and maintain up-to-date documentation of attendance, assignments, and evaluations. Regular communication with parents, students, and school staff is essential to support student learning and maintain continuity during the teacher’s absence. Additionally, the substitute fulfills administrative duties such as attending meetings, implementing school policies, and contributing to the overall functioning of the academic program.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or create and deliver lessons if necessary to ensure students continue learning.

Maintain a safe, orderly, and conducive learning environment by setting clear expectations, enforcing rules, and managing student behavior proactively.

Monitor student learning through formative and summative assessments, record grades, and maintain accurate attendance and other required records.

Build relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, including attending parent-teacher conferences and communicating with parents about student progress and concerns.

Follow the school's daily routines, procedures, and rules, and be prepared to handle administrative tasks like grading and progress monitoring.
Qualifications
The Long Term Substitute must have a track record of positive, professional collaboration in team settings and the desire and capacity to grow as an educational leader in our Lasallian culture. An understanding of the developmental needs of adolescents is necessary; therefore, a healthy combination of positivity, flexibility, energy, and creativity is needed. The Long Term Substitute Teacher demonstrates a high level of skill in working in a diverse, inclusive community and strong cross-cultural competency skills. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Position hours: Will vary upon sub needs and school schedule
Compensation: Daily Rate of $250.00
