Duties
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile preparations
- Assist with medication intake, verification, and inventory management to ensure timely availability of pharmaceuticals
- Provide excellent patient service by answering medication-related questions and supporting patient care initiatives
- Maintain precise medical terminology documentation and pharmacy records in compliance with hospital protocols
- Support critical care units by managing medication administration processes and ensuring adherence to aseptic procedures
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to facilitate smooth medication distribution across various departments, including LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy settings
- Ensure all pharmacy operations meet safety standards, including aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
Experience
- Prior pharmacy technician experience in hospital or acute care environments is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of LTC pharmacy practices and critical care medication management
- Hands-on experience with IV infusion preparation and aseptic techniques required
- Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to hospital settings and medication administration processes
- Proven ability to work effectively within a fast-paced healthcare team, supporting patient care initiatives
- Experience working with hospital electronic health records (EHR) systems or pharmacy information systems is advantageous
- Certification as a pharmacy technician from an accredited program is required or strongly preferred
