Education:
There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.
OR
Experience:
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.
Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
- Experience that demonstrates extensive knowledge of policy review standards, evaluating policy, analytical review procedures and understanding of complex policy preparation.
- Experience in utilizing databases to extract information, produce analytical reports, charts and graphics to convey technical and/or complex information.
- Experience in gathering, organizing, and communicating information for the development of policy that is distributed agency-wide.
- Experience in managing a Directives Management System to include conducting annual reviews and certification of directives, ensuring directives are current and maintaining records and history of directives.
If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.

Responsibilities:
This position is in the Office of National Policy Management, Director’s Office, Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Provides analytical policy advice to all management levels of the Bureau.
Processes drafts policies through all levels of the Bureau while reviewing content at each level; provides management with up-to-date data pertaining to the status of existing and draft policy and directives; and provides editorial review on all aspects of clear writing initiative and standard word and grammar usage.
Manages and ensures complete accuracy to the Bureau of Prison’s Directives Management System and ensures a complete record and history of each directive.
Responsible for training Bureau staff in policy development and policy management.
Salary : $112,015 - $145,617
