Our team is seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Ambassador to support the grant-funded Trauma Prevention Initiative: Street Outreach and Community Violence Intervention (SOCVI) Program.

Organization and Role Overview

The Full-Time Ambassador represents JU4Y at community events, school-based activities, resource fairs, outreach events, workshops, outings, and youth development activities.

This position supports participant engagement, program promotion, youth and family connection, activity participation, safe transportation, community engagement tracking, and coordinated support for youth and young adults enrolled in or referred to SOCVI High-Intensity Case Management services.

The Ambassador works under the direction of the Program Supervisor and in collaboration with Crisis Intervention Case Managers, Outreach Specialists, and the Community Intervention Worker.

This role helps connect participants and families to JU4Y programs, community-based services, workshops, family meetings, outings, mentorship, experiential learning opportunities, case management meetings, and other approved activities.

The ideal candidate has strong community credibility, professionalism, communication skills, safe driving practices, cultural awareness, and the ability to engage youth, families, schools, community partners, and community members in a respectful, participant-centered manner.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Represent JU4Y at community events, resource fairs, school-based activities, lunchtime campus activations, workshops, outreach activities, and other approved program events.
• Promote JU4Y programs, youth development opportunities, case management services, workshops, outings, experiential learning activities, and community-based supports.
• Support the enrollment of participants into youth development activities, workshops, outings, experiences, and approved program opportunities.
• Build positive relationships with youth, young adults, families, school staff, community members, partner organizations, and community stakeholders.
• Support engagement of participants who are gang-involved, gang-adjacent, crew-involved, justice-impacted, violence-impacted, victimized, or otherwise at elevated risk of community violence or instability.
• Support the Case Manager and Lead Case Manager with participant engagement, activity participation, and follow-up needed to meet weekly and monthly planned client and family touchpoint goals.
• Document participant participation in workshops, outings, prosocial activities, community events, and youth development experiences in required client management systems, including Community Engagement Reports and activity logs.
• Support grant-required data collection, participant outcome tracking, monthly reporting, and documentation needed for SOCVI program monitoring and compliance.
• Provide participant-centered support that promotes safety, dignity, consistency, positive relationships, and connection to services.
• Assist with identifying participants and families who may benefit from mentorship, case management, youth development services, crisis intervention support, victim services, family engagement, or resource navigation.
• Refer potential participants and families to Case Managers, Crisis Intervention Case Managers, Outreach Specialists, Community Intervention Worker, Campus Mentors, or other approved staff.
• Support weekly and monthly client and family touchpoint goals by helping participants attend case management meetings, family meetings, workshops, outings, and other scheduled activities.
• Provide safe and approved transportation for youth and young adult participants to and from the JU4Y Community Center, case management meetings, workshops, family meetings, community center activities, outings, experiential learning activities, and other approved program events.
• Follow all organizational transportation, safety, supervision, permission, documentation, and vehicle-use requirements.
• Support safe passages, campus-based engagement, community-based outreach, and participant connection to positive activities.
• Assist with coordinating and implementing workshops, field trips, outings, community-based activities, experiential learning opportunities, and goal achievement celebrations.
• Track participant attendance and activity participation for workshops, outings, community events, school-based activities, resource fairs, family engagement activities, and youth development experiences.
• Complete Community Engagement Reports and link participant activity participation to client profiles in required client management systems.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of outreach contacts, participant engagement, referrals, activity participation, transportation support, event support, and follow-up actions across required software platforms.
• Support participant surveys, sign-in sheets, RSVP tracking, activity logs, consent forms, and other documentation tools needed for program tracking and reporting.
• Assist with participant incentives, event materials, outreach supplies, workshop materials, and activity preparation in accordance with approved procedures.
• Support community events to ensure safe, welcoming, organized, and successful participant and family engagement.
• Assist with event setup, registration, participant check-in, partner support, activity facilitation, breakdown, and follow-up.
• Maintain strong knowledge of Pomona-based community resources, youth and family services, school-based supports, violence prevention resources, victim services, transportation resources, housing resources, behavioral health resources, employment resources, court/legal supports, and crisis response resources.
• Collaborate with the Lead Case Manager, Crisis Intervention Case Managers, Campus Mentors, Community Intervention Worker, Outreach Specialists, Ambassadors, funder Case Management Coordinators, school partners, and other approved partners.
• Participate in required meetings, supervision, trainings, community coordination meetings, case coordination discussions, workshops, convenings, and grantor-required activities.
• Maintain a comprehensive and accurate work calendar reflecting assigned work activities, community events, campus activities, participant transportation, meetings, workshops, trainings, and required program duties.
• Track, monitor, and report mileage for reimbursement during each pay period in accordance with policies and approval processes.
• Maintain confidentiality and share participant information only in accordance with consent, mandated reporting obligations, safety needs, contract requirements, and approved program processes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Experience working with youth, young adults, families, high-risk populations, justice-impacted individuals, violence-impacted individuals, victims/survivors, or communities affected by trauma.
• Experience working with gang-involved, gang-adjacent, crew-involved, or community violence-impacted individuals and families.
• Experience supporting community outreach, community events, school-based activities, youth development programs, mentoring, resource navigation, or participant engagement.
• Strong professional boundaries with participant-centered practice.
• Strong understanding of confidentiality, participant consent, mandated reporting, professional boundaries, and appropriate information sharing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage youth, families, partners, and community members respectfully and professionally.
• Strong documentation, organization, time management, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to complete attendance records, Community Engagement Reports, activity logs, participant tracking, and required data entry accurately and on time.
• Ability to use or learn Google Workspace, client management systems, email, VoIP phone systems, and virtual meeting platforms.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
• Ability to safely transport participants in accordance with organizational policies.
• Ability to travel to various worksites, schools, community events, partner locations, and JU4Y activities.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Pomona resident or strong knowledge of Pomona communities.
• Associate's degree (bachelor's preferred, not required).
• Formal Community Violence Intervention training.
• Youth mentoring experience.
• Resource navigation experience.
• Victim services navigation experience.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Experience working with nonprofit organizations, schools, youth programs, community events, or violence prevention programs.
• Knowledge of Pomona, County agencies, school systems, court processes, housing resources, employment resources, victim services, domestic violence resources, human trafficking resources, and other community support systems.
• Local references demonstrating positive community relationships, commitment to peace and collaboration, and credibility with violence-impacted communities.

Schedule Requirements

• Full-time schedule
• Monday through Friday availability preferred
• Some evenings required based on participant, family, workshop, campus, or event needs
• Weekends as needed
• Schedule may include field-based, office-based, school-based, campus-based, and community-based work
• Must maintain an accurate work calendar reflecting assigned work activities, meetings, participant transportation, campus activities, community events, workshops, trainings, and required program duties

Certifications and Trainings

• CPR and First Aid certification (required or must be obtained after hire)
• Mandated Reporter Training (required or must be obtained after hire)
• Required participation in onboarding, role-specific training, capacity building, and professional development training
• Additional training may be assigned based on grant, contract, participant safety, transportation, or program compliance requirements

Grant-Funded Position Notice

This is a grant-funded position beginning July 2026 and funded through June 2027.

This role is supported by funding from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Office of Violence Prevention, through the Trauma Prevention Initiative: Street Outreach and Community Violence Intervention Program.

Continued employment is subject to grant funding, program needs, and organizational approval.
