About the Position
Just Like Home HCS is seeking dependable, compassionate, and responsible Direct Care Staff (PRN) to provide support and assistance to individuals receiving Home and Community-Based Services (HCS).
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys helping others, works well independently and as part of a team, and is committed to providing respectful, person-centered care in a home-like environment.
Responsibilities
Direct Care Staff may be responsible for:
- Providing daily care, supervision, and support to individuals in the group home.
- Assisting individuals with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and other personal needs.
- Preparing meals and assisting with feeding when necessary.
- Administering or assisting with medications as permitted by training and applicable requirements.
- Providing transportation and/or accompanying individuals to appointments, activities, and community outings when assigned.
- Supporting individuals with community integration and recreational activities.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment.
- Following individual service plans and company policies and procedures.
- Completing required documentation, daily notes, medication records, and other assigned paperwork accurately and timely.
- Monitoring individuals for changes in behavior, health, or overall well-being and reporting concerns appropriately.
- Protecting the privacy, dignity, rights, and confidentiality of individuals receiving services.
- Responding appropriately to emergencies and following established emergency procedures.
- Working cooperatively with other Direct Care Staff, supervisors, and members of the individual's support team.
PRN Position
This is an as-needed position intended to provide staffing coverage when regular employees are unavailable.
PRN staff may be called upon to cover:
- Call-outs
- Vacations
- Holidays
- Open shifts
- Weekend shifts
- Other staffing needs
Flexibility and availability are highly valued.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a high school diploma or GED, preferred.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Demonstrate patience, professionalism, and compassion.
- Be able to communicate effectively with individuals, families, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Be able to successfully complete required background checks and employment screenings.
- Be willing to complete all required training.
A valid driver's license may be required for positions involving transportation.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in any of the following is a plus:
- Direct care
- Group homes
- HCS services
- IDD services
- Caregiving
- Personal care assistance
- Behavioral health
- Nursing or healthcare
- Residential services
Experience is not always required. Training may be provided to qualified candidates.
Physical Requirements
The position may require employees to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, stoop, reach, and lift as required by the individual's needs.
- Assist individuals with mobility and daily activities.
- Respond quickly to emergency situations.
- Perform duties in a residential/group-home setting.
