Brown County Construction is seeking dependable, safety-focused Asphalt Laborers to support asphalt paving, milling, grading, and roadway construction operations. This position works alongside paving crews to prepare job sites, operate hand tools and small equipment, assist with asphalt placement, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.

Core Responsibilities
Asphalt & Roadway Operations
- Assist crews with asphalt paving, milling, patching, and roadway maintenance operations
- Perform asphalt raking, shoveling, luting, and cleanup work during paving projects
- Support site preparation activities including grading, leveling, and base preparation
- Assist with installation of asphalt, aggregate materials, concrete, and roadway components
- Help maintain proper traffic flow and safe work zones on active job sites
- Work around paving machines, rollers, skid steers, milling machines, dump trucks, and other heavy equipment
Equipment & Tool Usage
- Operate hand tools, power tools, compactors, saws, and other construction equipment safely
- Load and unload materials, tools, and supplies as needed
- Assist operators and foremen with daily project setup and production tasks
- Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas
Safety & Quality
- Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and DOT requirements
- Wear required PPE and participate in daily safety meetings
- Identify hazards and communicate concerns to supervisors immediately
- Maintain quality workmanship and attention to detail throughout all phases of work

Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in asphalt paving, construction, grading, or roadway work
- Experience using construction hand tools and power tools
- Knowledge of asphalt paving processes and roadway construction practices
- Experience working around heavy equipment and active construction zones
- CDL or equipment operating experience is a plus
- GPS-controlled equipment experience is beneficial but not required
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing
- Ability to work long hours during peak construction season
- Ability to work in heat, cold, dust, and uneven terrain
