Jupiter Power is an energy infrastructure company focused on the development, construction, trading and operation of battery energy storage assets across U.S. power markets. Formed in 2017, the company is a national leader in energy storage deployment, utilizing its proprietary optimization applications daily to dispatch its fleet and support its offtake customers. We are seeking a Director to join our Project Finance & Capital Markets team. This role is designed for a finance professional who can take a key leadership role in financing transactions, independently own transaction workstreams, supervise junior team members, and act as a day-to-day execution lead on complex financings in support of a primary Vice President-level deal team lead.

The Director will be responsible for overseeing financial modeling, coordinating diligence and closing processes, and serving as a key internal and external point of contact across multiple concurrent transactions. This role requires strong technical expertise, sound commercial judgment, the ability to negotiate deal terms, and the ability to manage people and processes in a fast-paced transaction environment.

This role will be based out of our Austin or Chicago

office and is subject to the Company’s return-to-office policy, which currently requires a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and oversee project-level and portfolio-level financial models for utility-scale battery storage assets across development, construction, and operations
  • Review, validate, and approve financial models prepared by Associates; ensure consistency with transaction terms and internal investment theses
  • Lead scenario, sensitivity, and downside analyses and synthesize results into clear recommendations for senior management
  • Support structuring and execution of project finance debt, tax equity, and structured equity transactions, acting in an execution role for the deal team leader
  • Manage transaction workstreams end-to-end, including:
    • Data room organization and diligence response coordination
    • Q&A management with lenders, tax equity investors, rating agencies, and advisors
    • Coordination of third-party reports (IE, market, insurance, legal, tax)
    • Proactively identify diligence risks, structural issues, and timeline constraints; escalate and propose solutions
  • Coordinate closely with legal counsel on financing documentation and actively review credit agreements, tax equity documents, hedging agreements, and intercreditor arrangements
  • Serve as the primary finance interface with Development, Engineering, Commercial, Accounting, Tax, and Legal teams during transactions
  • Manage and mentor Associates, including:
    • Delegation of workstreams
    • Review and feedback on models and analyses
    • Development of technical and professional skills
    • Contribute to the development of internal templates, modeling standards, and transaction execution playbooks
  • Support evaluation and execution of portfolio-level and corporate financing strategies, including warehouse facilities, holdco debt, revolvers, and other capital markets transactions
  • Coordinate and review commercial and financial analysis of offtake structures, tolling arrangements, merchant exposure, and other revenue strategies
  • Prepare and review materials for internal investment committee, lender presentations, and senior management reporting
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in project finance, infrastructure investing, renewable energy, investment banking, private equity, or advisory
  • Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel, including complex debt and tax equity structures
  • High attention to detail and demonstrated ability to manage across multiple concurrent transactions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience interfacing directly with eternal counterparties
  • Proven ability to supervise and review work produced by junior team members

Preferred

  • Experience with utility-scale battery storage or renewable energy projects
  • Direct experience with project finance debt, tax equity, or structured infrastructure investments
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating financing documentation in partnership with legal counsel
