What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Irrigation Technician position at Jupiter Island Holdings?
JOB SUMMARY:
The Grounds Irrigation Technician performs maintenance and repairs of all irrigation and drainage systems on Grounds and Tennis Courts. Participates in ongoing Grounds operations as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Conducts regular maintenance checks of various irrigation systems throughout Club Grounds and Tennis Courts at regular intervals to ensure systems are performing at maximum efficiency.
Tests systems for potential issues; makes immediate repairs and/or adjustments to correct problems.
Consults daily with Grounds Management Team and Grounds IPM Tech to plan work according to maintenance activities and pesticide/fertilizer applications.
Occasionally participates in overall JIC irrigation matters.
Responsible for daily programming of all stand-alone field control units and central computer control system.
Performs daily record keeping of activities.
Performs and/or oversees small and large improvement projects on Grounds and Tennis such as system upgrades, new irrigation and drainage installations.
Assists in event preparations and Grounds maintenance activities as required.
May be asked to assist Grounds Management Team to plan and complete landscape projects.
Ability to present and exchange technical information and specifications with Grounds Management, staff, subcontractors, and/or outside vendors.
Attends planning meetings as deemed necessary by Grounds Manager or when necessary to meet with outside contractors.
Must be comfortable working independently.
Maintains a clean and orderly irrigation parts room and working area.
Purchases necessary items while working within the parameters of the budget.
In event of an irrigation emergency, may be asked to return to work after hours to assist with resolution and/or help diagnose the problem.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A High School education with a minimum of 1-3 years of hands on, in the field, daily maintenance on residential and light commercial irrigation systems. Training in irrigation or landscaping preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Requires a valid Florida Driver’s License. Must have Florida BMP Best Maintenance Practices Certification or acquire Fl BMP certification within one year of employment. Irrigation Certification preferred and may be required in the future.
