What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junk Removal Truck Driver / Crew Lead position at Junk King Macomb County?
Driver / Crew Lead, Full-Time and Part-Time — Junk King Macomb County
$18–$22/hr guaranteed base tips bonuses = $23–$29/hr typical all-in earnings. Paid every two weeks.*
Junk King is the second largest junk removal company in North America and the nation's top-rated junk removal and hauling brand, built since 2005 and part of Neighborly, the world's largest home services company with 19 brands across North America, including names you already know like Mr. Rooter, Molly Maid, and Mr. Handyman. Junk King Macomb County is its newest location. That means you get a proven 20 year playbook behind you and a ground-floor seat in front of you, working directly with the owner.
About that owner: Army intelligence veteran, former Amazon cybersecurity leader, and born and raised right here in Macomb County. This is home, not a market somebody flew in to set up. He runs this place on numbers and real process, with a mission in this order: customers first, employees second, owner third. For you, that means smart routing, honest scheduling, steady hours, and pay that grows with performance through tips and bonuses tied to numbers you can see. You'll help build how this location runs. And the plan is bigger than one truck: when truck two and its crew arrive, somebody has to train that driver, set the standard, and run point across both crews. That senior lead seat comes with more responsibility and more pay, and you're auditioning for it from day one.
The schedule
- Full-time: generally Monday through Friday, typical shift 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a paid lunch
- Part-time: Saturday availability is required. Friday availability is a big plus, and we're open to other weekdays too.
- Steady work every week. When the truck isn't on a job, we're out building the business.
- Some days wrap early, some days we stay late to finish right for a customer. We flex with the work.
- Sundays: closed.
What you'll do
- Drive our 2026 Isuzu with an 18-yard box, the biggest truck in the market, to homes and businesses across Macomb County
- Lead a two-person crew from start to finish: on-site estimates, customer walk-throughs, loading, payment
- Be the face of the company in every driveway. Customers remember the crew, and our reviews are built on you.
- Run donation and recycling drops. We aim to give the majority of what we haul a second life instead of a landfill.
- Daily truck inspections and route decisions. You own the truck like it's yours.
- Help spread the word: door hangers in the neighborhoods we serve, plus community events showing off the truck
What you need
- 21 with a valid Michigan driver's license, 3 years driving history, clean record
- Able to lift 75 lbs and work stairs, basements, and Michigan weather
- Pass a background check and a motor vehicle record check. Employment is contingent on both, and drivers must be insurable under our commercial auto policy. Our customers welcome us into their homes, and every crew member clears the same bar.
- No CDL required. A Michigan chauffeur's license is required to drive. Don't have one yet? Apply anyway. You can start on the crew while you get it.
- DOT Physical is required to drive. Don't have one? We can help you get it.
What you get
- $18–$22/hr base, plus tips and performance bonuses on every paycheck, paid every two weeks
- Full uniform provided head to toe, including composite-toe safety boots
- Closed New Year's, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
- Paid training before your first solo job
- An owner who tells you the numbers and turns your best ideas into standard procedure
Veterans: the owner is an Army intelligence vet, and this company is built the way good units run: clear standards, real training, crews that look out for each other. If you served, you already know how to show up on time, work as a team, and take pride in doing hard things well. That is exactly what gets rewarded here.
Apply today. We're hiring now and moving fast. Interviews start next week.
