Lead Composite Layup Technician
Located: Anaheim, CA
We design and manufacture system-level thermal solutions, partnering with customers for over 20 years across aerospace, defense, medical, industrial, and government R&D sectors.
Our technologies support mission-critical applications ranging from spacecraft thermal management to precise temperature control in surgical environments, operating across extreme conditions from -150°C to 1,100°C.
The Lead Composite Layup Technician is responsible for fabricating composite components through the precise placement and bonding of materials in accordance with engineering drawings, ply books, and manufacturing instructions. This role supports the pre-cure phase of composite production and ensures parts meet quality and specification requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hand layup of prepregs, fabrics, adhesives, and related composite materials.
- Cut, kit, and stage materials for production.
- Follow ply books, travelers, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Ensure proper fiber orientation, ply sequence, and material placement.
- Perform vacuum bagging, debulking, and prepare parts for cure.
- Maintain material controls, including out-time tracking and cleanliness requirements.
- Inspect work prior to cure and complete required production documentation.
- Support rework activities and continuous improvement efforts while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, ply books, and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Knowledge of composite materials and lamination techniques preferred.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Ability to work in controlled environments and use required PPE.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in composite layup, aerospace manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
Salary : $60,000 - $85,000
