Safety & Health Manager
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (flexibility required based on business needs)
Located: Decatur, Alabama
Position Overview
The Safety & Health Manager leads all environmental, health, and safety initiatives across a poultry processing facility, feed mill, and hatchery. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements while fostering a strong safety culture and driving continuous improvement across operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all site safety, health, and regulatory compliance programs across multiple facilities.
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, training programs, and annual safety initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, environmental, and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Manage permits, audits, inspections, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Partner with operations leadership to improve workplace safety, reduce risk, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review new equipment, facility changes, and process improvements to ensure safe operations.
- Develop and manage safety budgets and support workers' compensation and industrial hygiene programs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Safety Specialists, Technicians, and Occupational Health staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of safety management experience, preferably within food manufacturing or industrial operations.
- 3 years of leadership experience managing safety professionals or technical teams.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, risk management, industrial hygiene, emergency response, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience leading audits, investigations, safety training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Professional safety certification (CSP or similar) is preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence all levels of an organization.
