Position Overview:
We are looking for an organized, hands-on Catering & Event Staff Manager to oversee the execution of off-site catering and in-house events. This role is responsible for staffing, coordinating, and ensuring exceptional guest experiences from setup to breakdown. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and has a strong eye for detail and service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute catering events and private functions
- Recruit, train, schedule, and manage catering/event staff
- Serve as the main point of contact during events to ensure smooth operations
- Oversee event setup, service, and breakdown to meet company standards
- Maintain high levels of customer service and professionalism
- Communicate with kitchen, bar, and front-of-house teams to ensure alignment
- Manage staffing levels based on event size and needs
- Ensure proper handling, transportation, and setup of food, beverages, and equipment
- Monitor labor and event costs to meet budget goals
- Handle on-site problem-solving and guest concerns quickly and professionally
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety standards
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in catering, events, or restaurant management required
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Most summer Saturdays will be wedding catering days.
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure
- Valid driver’s license (preferred, if off-site catering is involved)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with event planning or banquet service
- Knowledge of food safety.
- Familiarity with scheduling and event management software
