Position Summary
The Zone Monitor is responsible for the direct supervision of a designated section within Jungle Island’s inflatable activations, including Space Jump! and Aqua Rush. This role ensures participant safety, maintains structured session flow, enforces operational rules, and contributes to a high-energy, well-managed guest experience.
Zone Monitors operate under the direction of the Lead Supervisor and must maintain constant visual awareness and physical presence within their assigned zone.
This is an active, safety-first role requiring continuous engagement, movement, and decision-making — not a passive observation position.
Core Responsibilities
1. Active Supervision
- Remain physically positioned within assigned zone at all times.
- Maintain continuous visual scanning of participants.
- Enforce safe and proper use of inflatables and slides, including:
- Proper positioning (feet first when required)
- Safe spacing between participants
- Controlled entry and exit points
- Prevent unsafe behaviors including:
- Collisions
- Climbing outside designated areas
- Rough play or pushing
- Running in restricted or unsafe areas (including wet surfaces where applicable)
- Redirect participants calmly and confidently.
- Immediately radio the Lead Supervisor in case of injury or escalation.
2. Session Flow & Capacity Control
- Manage controlled entry into attractions.
- Regulate spacing between participants at key points (climbs, slides, obstacles).
- Monitor and manage landing and exit zones for safe flow.
- Ensure no re-entry without proper wristband.
- Assist with structured session resets and capacity verification when required.
3. Guest Interaction
- Greet guests with energy and professionalism.
- Provide clear and concise safety instructions prior to participation.
- Address guest and parent questions respectfully.
- Reinforce rules without confrontation.
- Escalate concerns or complaints to the Lead Supervisor.
4. Safety Protocol Adherence
- Follow all safety and operational procedures as trained.
- Stop activity immediately if unsafe conditions arise.
- Assist in clearing zones during incidents or medical response.
- Maintain awareness of exits and emergency procedures.
- Monitor for hazards including:
- Equipment misuse or instability
- Slippery or congested areas
- Debris or foreign objects
- Follow injury and incident protocols exactly as trained.
5. Cleanliness & Operational Readiness
- Conduct ongoing visual inspections of assigned zone.
- Remove debris and report equipment concerns immediately.
- Support reset between sessions when applicable.
- Assist with end-of-day cleaning and shutdown procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Strong situational awareness and quick reaction capability.
- Comfortable enforcing rules in a fast-paced environment.
- High energy, physically active, and confident communicator.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including wet conditions.
- CPR/AED certification required (or willingness to obtain).
- Able to stand, move, climb, and react continuously for extended periods.
