Jumoke Academy seeks a full time certified Social Worker for SY 2026-2027, who will be responsible for the delivery of the school social work services program. This is a full-time 10-month position that comes with benefits!

- Planning and Development:
- Assisting in the formulation of administrative procedures, policies, and curriculum which directly affect the welfare of students.
- Assisting in the development of school social worker objectives.
- Assisting in the development of plans that will improve the quality of services provided for students based on assessed needs.
- Service to Students:
- Serve on student support teams and special education committees.
- Providing individual or group counseling for children who are experiencing problems in school, home, or community adjustment with an emphasis upon early intervention.
- Encouraging and assisting families in their pursuit of community services that may assist in the remediation of school centered problems.
- Services to Parents:
- Assisting parents in preventing problems by facilitating communication with the school.
- Assisting parents to understand problems experienced by their children. This is accomplished through home visits, group counseling, parent training and referrals to community services.
- Services to Teachers:
- Providing collaboration and consultation regarding student problems and coordinating plans and actions to meet them. Early identification of problems is emphasized.
- Assisting in planning educational prescriptions for students.
- Facilitating the involvement of community agencies in efforts directed toward the remediation of student problems in school adjustment.
- Providing in-service to schools
- Services to the Community:
- Meeting with individual and community groups to explain school programs and student problems.
- Assisting community agencies in their understanding of student clients.
- Professional Development:
- Attending and participating in educational conferences and workshops pertinent to school social work.
- Program Evaluation:
- Maintaining records of all services provided.
- Maintaining reports of work with students to include social histories, adaptive behavior, reports of differential diagnoses and prescriptions of truancy reports.
- Reports of appropriate local, state, and federal agencies.
- Other duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Master's degree in School Social Work
- Valid Connecticut Certification in school social work.
- Successful experience as a school social worker.
- Previous counseling experience.
- Specific knowledge and expertise in the areas of personality theory, counseling theory/ practices, individual/ group theory/ practices, special/ exceptional student staffing procedures, federal/ state/ local laws regarding school practices, and mental health/ agency experience with children.
