Summary/Objective:

The Bakery Manager supervises the work of all the bakery employees within the specific bakery he or she manages. The Bakery Manager is responsible for the overall efficient and effective operation of the bakery her or she manages.

Reports To:

Bakery/Deli Supervisor

Essential Functions:

· All areas of customer satisfaction and service, including but not limited to, responding to customer requests, questions and complaints.

· Directs the work flow for the bakery with staff, including scheduling of staff

· Works and communicates successfully with all levels of customers, management and employees.

· Plans, coordinates and implements all company procedures, policies and procedures.

· Abides by all state and federal regulations.

· Assists with unloading trucks.

· Makes sure the bakery is clean and orderly, properly stocked, priced, signed, tagged and rotated.

· Maintains accurate records of bakery sales and purchases.

· Receives merchandise assuring the correct count and proper charges.

· Operates a scanner, counts money in cash register and makes appropriate change.

· Operates scales and prepares bakery goods for sale.

· Maintains purchasing of bakery products for sale to customers.

· Completes invoice calculations on a weekly basis.

· Performs bakery duties, including packaging, labeling, baking, cake decorating, stocking and clean-up.

· Stocks merchandise accurately and between code tags on the shelf as assigned and required by management.

· Walk-Outs with Employees Daily

· Walk-Outs with Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager Daily

Competencies:

· Independent problem solving skills

· Knowledge of all equipment in the bakery department including, slicing machine, baking ovens, knives, box knives and mixing machine

· Ability to work quickly, accurately and independently in an efficient manner

· Ability to work a variety of schedules hours per customer demands, including weekends, holidays and busy days of the month.

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervise all bakery staff. This position manages the hiring, corrective counseling and discipline of employees, directs employee workload, guides, and trains and coaches employee’s performance on a daily basis. This position requires implementation, compliance, monitoring and enforcement of all Policies & Procedures, written or implied for all employees equally.

Work Environment

Retail environment. May work multiple shifts and varied shifts. This position requires working weekends and holidays. Minimum work week of 5 days or 45 hours.

Physical Demands

· This position requires long hours of standing and walking

· Use of repetitive motion such as grasping and fine manipulation

· Must be able to keep head and neck in static position, recommend frequent flexing and rotation exercises

· Position requires frequent bending and push/pull

· Requires occasional squatting, climbing, reaching above shoulder, kneeling, crouching

· Must be able to carry and lift up to 10 pounds, may lift up to 50 pounds

Required Education and Experience:

High school or equivalent
