Job Description: The Victim Advocate is responsible for serving victims of sexual assault and their families through hotline calls and emergency room accompaniments.

Direct Service/ Case Management
- Provide crisis intervention services by answering the hotline and responding to assault victims in the ER. The incumbent will serve as the primary staff advocate providing ER accompaniment and crisis intervention through the hotline.
- Assist in scheduling clients for therapy and other services.
- Maintain client information and contacts in accordance with agency policy and funding requirements. The advocate will have primary responsibility for ensuring client information is properly recorded and maintained following hotline calls and ER accompaniment.
- Work collaboratively with Crisis Program Director and other agency staff to provide highest quality services to clients.
- Must have reliable transportation and phone service.
Education and Community Awareness
- Promote agency services and a positive image of the agency to the community.
Administrative
- Participate as a member of the JVC Team, participate in weekly Crisis Program staffing and supervision meetings.
- Complete Crisis Program's 29-hour advocate training and participate in quarterly advocate trainings.
- Maintain Victim Service Provider (VSP) credentials by completing annual training requirements.
- Enhance professional growth and development through activities such as professional affiliations, conferences, workshops, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned and/ or requested.
Time Commitment: Advocates will work a total of 29 hours each week. Advocate will work two weekday shifts from 6pm-6am and two Friday shifts a month from 2pm-6pm. Advocate will also be expected to attend a 1 hour team meeting each week.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Education: High School Diploma
Minimum Experience: 1 year preferred
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills: Advocates must be at least 21 years of age,
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience and skill in providing crisis intervention and case management to victims of interpersonal violence; knowledge of criminal justice system and victim services.
