Role Description The Licensed Recreational Therapist is a full-time, on-site role based in Black Mountain, NC. This role is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic recreation groups and individual interventions for adults with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Day-to-day tasks include assessing patient needs, developing treatment goals, facilitating recreation and creative therapy sessions, and documenting progress in accordance with clinical and regulatory standards. The therapist collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to integrate recreational therapy into comprehensive treatment plans, supports discharge planning through skills-based activities, and participates in staff meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in Recreation and Therapeutic Recreation to design and deliver structured, recovery-oriented activities.
- Candidates should possess CTRS certification and the ability to maintain professional licensure or certification in good standing.
- Candidates should possess skills in Art Therapy and other creative therapeutic modalities to enhance patient engagement and coping skills.
- Candidates should possess ability to complete accurate Progress Notes and other clinical documentation in a timely, compliant manner.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Recreational Therapy or a closely related field from an accredited program.
- Experience working in behavioral health, addiction treatment, or similar clinical settings is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, group facilitation, crisis de-escalation, and collaboration skills with diverse patient populations and staff.
- Ability to work a full-time schedule on-site, meet physical demands of leading activities, and adhere to safety and infection-control protocols.
