Assistant Manager / Manager in Training — Juicy Lucy's Burger Bar and Grill (Asheville)
About us
Juicy Lucy's Burger Bar and Grill has been an Asheville staple for 14 years. Over-the-top burgers, cold craft beer, and a laid-back, high-energy room where regulars know the staff by name. We're family-run and independent —have many accolades including being voted Best Burger by Asheville Radio Group (1st) , Best Burger WNC by Mountain Express (3rd place) , Best Burger in NC by Tasting Menu. We're very proud of what we do.
Management is on the floor every day, and we're rebuilding our training program from the ground up. If you want to learn how a restaurant actually works — the ordering, the numbers, the people — this is a good time to be here.
What you'll do
Run the shift
- Expo the line, work the floor, handle the rush
- Be the first stop for guest issues and turn them around
- Run floor walks, check-outs, and tip distribution
- Open and close the building, count drawers, own your shift's paperwork
- Keep the restaurant staffed to meet guest needs, every shift
- Maximize table turnover, sales per guest, and sales per hour
Lead the team
- Train and lead FOH stations — primarily Host, To-Go/Shakes, and Expo
- Show exceptional strength in every position, because you're setting the bar
- Coach in the moment: steps of service, cleanliness, food quality
- Direct impact on interviewing, hiring, and training
- Plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and coach
- Address complaints and resolve problems before they grow
Hold the standard
- Follow and enforce our guidelines, procedures, promises, and vision statement
- Ensure food quality that meets or exceeds expectations
- Enforce safe work behaviors for both guests and crew
- Comprehend, convey, and command 100% brand loyalty
What we're training you toward
A real management seat. You'll learn scheduling, ordering, inventory, cost control, the P&L side, vendor relationships, and how to build a team — not just cover the schedule. We'll be clear about what you're expected to know and by when.
What we're looking for
- Prior restaurant management experience required — Assistant Manager, Shift Manager, Kitchen Manager, or equivalent
- Dependable and trustworthy. Everything else is teachable; this isn't
- Calm when it's slammed. That's most of the job
- Organized enough that people trust you to follow through
- A "go, go, go" mentality — you move, and the shift moves with you
- Honest, coachable, and genuinely likes people
- Communicates clearly, up and down
- Professional under pressure while still creating a warm, fun, friendly room
- Available nights and weekends
Schedule and pay — you pick the structure
- Salaried: $62,000 per year. 50 hours per week required.
