Overview
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing the daily operations of a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant in a busy Queens location. This role helps lead and motivate staff, maintain the highest standards of food quality, cleanliness, and customer service, and ensure an exceptional guest experience in a high-traffic environment. The Assistant Store Manager plays a key role in driving operational efficiency, supporting team performance, managing shift execution, assisting with inventory and cash controls, and helping the restaurant meet sales and profitability goals.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, to ensure smooth business flow.
- Supervise and motivate team members, providing guidance on customer service, sales techniques, and product knowledge.
- Oversee inventory management processes such as stock ordering, receiving shipments, merchandising, and inventory control to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Handle cash register operations, including cashiering, cash handling, POS (Point of Sale) system management, and balancing registers at shift end.
- Support recruiting efforts by participating in interviewing potential employees and conducting employee orientation and training sessions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies on pricing, merchandising standards, health & safety regulations, and store cleanliness.
- Manage scheduling to ensure adequate staffing during peak hours while optimizing labor costs through effective time management.
- Act as Manager-on-Duty in the absence of the Store Manager
Skills
- Basic math skills and ability to operate POS systems
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Capable of standing for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks
- Prior restaurant or quick-service management experience preferred
- Experience in marketing initiatives and promotional activities to boost store performance.
