JOB DESCRIPTION
The Teacher – Technology Applications – participates as a member of the instructional staff in planning for teaching, motivating students, developing classroom climate, managing the classroom, interacting with pupils and evaluating pupils.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Certification Requirements
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned. (Trade and Industrial Education Grades 6-12 or 8-12 with appropriate work approval) or

Texas Administrative Code (TAC) requires that candidates seeking CTE certification based on skill and experience must complete an approved educator preparation program (EPP)
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching
- OR an Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution, two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching
- OR a High School Diploma or equivalent, five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching
- Eligible military experience may be used in lieu of civilian experience; your EPP will review for eligibility
- Plus, valid license is appropriate for the assignment
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans the long- and short-range objectives for assigned courses
- Develops lesson plans with the appropriate essential elements
- Collects and uses a variety of information to guide the growth and development of individual pupils
- Maximizes amount of time available for instruction
- Demonstrates effective teaching methods and selects appropriate teaching materials using a variety of activities to develop student interest and performance
- Establishes standards for individual pupils in terms of ability levels
- Creates a classroom climate conducive to pupil intellectual, social, emotional and moral development
- Manages pupil behavior and activities to allow for learning
- Communicate effectively with students
- Evaluates and provides feedback on pupil performance continuously by utilizing a variety of sources to insure mastery of the essential elements.
- Teaches for cognitive, affective, and/or psychomotor learning and transfer
- Maintains accurate student accounting records and other records in compliance with local and state requirements
- Participates in in-service workshops
- Participates in extracurricular activities as assigned
- Plans for and engages in professional development
- Interacts and communicates effectively with parents and school staff
- Participates in the planning, presentation, and evaluation of various school activities
- Manages the classroom computer lab to promote learning effectiveness and to provide maximum supervision of students
- Supervises and sponsors activities of the appropriately approved CATE student leadership organization
- Seeks recommendations, advice, and updated skill methods from advisory committee members by promoting industry/business involvement in the program activities
- Places students in employment settings according to their interest and qualifications
- Must complete designated district technology proficiency each year
- Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills
- Ability to use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
MENTAL DEMANDS
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written), interpret policies and procedures, reason, read, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, coordinate, compile, instruct, and maintain emotional control.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift and/or carry moderate weight (15-44 pounds), sit, stand, walk, reach, repetitive hand motions, hear, speak, travel infrequently within the District and occasionally outside the district/county, may experience prolonged and irregular work hours, work with frequent interruptions, be exposed to heat from computer/electrical shock, unusual noise levels and may experience unusual fatigue factors.
