The Enterprise Technology Services Division (ETSD) of the
Office of the State Court Administrator
(OSCA), part of the Oregon Judicial Department (OJD), is hiring a Server Support Specialist (Information Technology Specialist). ETSD provides business solutions, system support, technology vendor management, and information security for OJD. Starting Salary: In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD up to the fourth step of the salary range, depending on experience. You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.
Position Highlights
Your main role as a Server Support Specialist will be to ensure the stability and security of OJD’s enterprise servers and storage technology platform. To this end, you will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, troubleshooting, configuring, and performing optimization for the OJD Enterprise Server environments and other server applications and hardware. You will periodically conduct restore tests, plus basic and advanced recoveries, to ensure all backups in each data set are recoverable. You will also develop and maintain reporting and health metrics for all enterprise systems, resolving issues that arise from health checks.
Additionally, you will create and maintain documentation for protocols, procedures, and configurations of OJD servers and systems. You will also manage and maintain the server and storage hardware and integrated software for configuration and systems management, case management and backend systems, the VMWare virtual infrastructure that provides the foundation for most servers and storage used by the enterprise, the SQL databases for all major systems, Azure, and the Active Directory services (local and cloud based) to ensure appropriate access and authentication for the enterprise systems.
You will architect, plan, and test new technologies and solutions that could benefit OJD. You will also investigate, analyze, and recommend the viability and feasibility of new projects, solutions, and integrations for OJD’s current systems. Part of your time will be spent providing procurement advice and recommendations to local courts about servers and storage systems.
In doing your work, you will actively engage with internal and external customers to resolve issues related to OJD’s servers and systems.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, management, public administration, or a related field.
AND
Four (4) years of technical experience in the duties and infrastructure support required for the position.
OR
Any combination of
education and experience
equivalent to eight (8) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Special Qualifications
(These must be verifiable.)
Possession of a current driver’s license in good standing, an acceptable driving record, and the ability to obtain or maintain a driver’s license in Oregon to operate an Oregon Department of Administrative Services-owned motor pool vehicle for when work travel is required.
Requested Skills and Attributes

  • Experience administering Commvault Backup and Recovery systems.
  • Experience in cloud-based backup solutions Microsoft 365 and Azure.
  • Experience in x86 server hardware.
  • Experience in Windows Server based OS.
  • Experience with Internet Information Services (IIS).
  • Experience administering virtual servers in VMware hyperconverged infrastructure.
  • Experience administering SANs.
  • Experience with Zerto configuration and administration.
  • Experience in Windows Active Directory administration.
  • Experience managing and maintaining servers in Azure.
  • Experience in server administration on identifying complex problems and implementing documented solutions.
  • Experience evaluating system analytics and suggesting improvements.
  • Experience performing research and analysis.
  • Experience and skill in presenting information clearly and logically, orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of methods and procedures for designing, developing, monitoring, and maintaining applications.
  • Experience communicating technical issues to a variety of users and user levels.
  • Experience as a subject matter expert as a technical resource for IT-related projects.
  • Experience providing customer service in person, by phone, by email and over chat.
  • Experience with courthouse IT processes and procedures is preferred.
Working Conditions
  • This is a full-time position, and the work schedule currently is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional work outside these times – including weekends. This position is FLSA-exempt and ineligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.
  • Occasional travel, including possible overnight stays, will be required.
  • Hybrid work may be available for this position. All hybrid work assignments begin, end, and change only with administrative authority approval. On-site availability is required as directed for server and storage equipment configuration, installation, maintenance, replacement, tape retrieval, or network outages, regardless of any approved hybrid schedule.
  • This position plans, organizes, and prioritizes daily work demands in a limited time frame.

  • Lifting and moving server and storage equipment that weighs up to 50 pounds may be required.
