What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Laboratory Technician position at Judge Direct Placement?
The Quality Control Laboratory Technician is vital for ensuring the integrity of our products by conducting electrical, mechanical, audio, and environmental tests on both current and new product designs.
The Quality Lab Technician will primarily focus on testing and quality assurance, which includes:
Product Testing & Evaluation:
- Perform testing on prototypes, existing, and competitor products.
- Setup test equipment and products in proper sequence.
- Conduct tests for stated criteria, involving mechanical, electrical, environmental, and electromechanical functions.
- Evaluate test results and determine if products are in conformance.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare informal and formal test reports.
- Maintain test-related Military/Agency/Laboratory documentation on the Lab Database.
Lab & Equipment Management:
- Assist in the assembly, procurement, and implementation of test equipment.
- Assist Lab Personnel in daily operations.
Quality System Support:
- Develop policies & procedures to continuously improve Quality Systems.
- Participate in the maintenance of ISO 9000 Registration.
- Assist in the Internal Audit program.
- Assist in the metrology program for Quality/Production equipment.
- Provide support and advise staff.
- Ensure testing competence as required per ISO 17025 Scope of Accreditation.
- Assist with other related duties as required or assigned.
Education & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Quality experience in a manufacturing/lab environment.
- Background in project management experience essential.
- Ability to participate in the ASQ CQT training program.
Required Skills & Abilities
Technical Knowledge:
- Ability to use various measurement (both mechanical and electrical) devices.
- Requires the ability to understand basic electrical techniques and theories along with reading electrical schematics.
- Basic knowledge of various SPC techniques.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9000, AS9100, ISO14001, ISO 17025 and SPC techniques.
- Requires the ability to differentiate between colors.

- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have excellent figure aptitude and be detail oriented.
- Requires the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Experience
Experience with the following tools and standards is a plus:
- Associate in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent.
- Electrical Diagnostic Equipment: DMM, Oscilloscope, etc.
- Environmental Chambers: Temperature, Humidity, etc.
- Materials Testing: Instron Materials testing equipment.
- Vibration Testing: Unholtz Dickie, Bruel & Kjaer, etc.
- Setups: Pneumatic and electromechanical set ups.
Salary : $50,000 - $60,000
