Overview
Our client is seeking a Medium Voltage (MV) Switchgear Engineer to support the design, development, and lifecycle management of MV switchgear and protection systems used across industrial, utility, and renewable‑energy applications. This role blends hands‑on engineering with cross‑functional collaboration, ensuring power‑protection solutions meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop medium‑voltage switchgear systems including metal‑clad, metal‑enclosed, and pad‑mounted configurations.
- Create and review engineering documentation such as single‑line diagrams, three‑line diagrams, wiring schematics, BOMs, and equipment layouts.
- Perform electrical calculations including short‑circuit analysis, arc‑flash studies, load flow, and protection coordination.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are optimized for buildability, cost, and quality.
- Support customer‑facing engineering activities including technical presentations, RFQ responses, and solution customization.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as IEEE, UL, NEC, ANSI, and utility‑specific requirements.
- Oversee testing and validation of MV switchgear, including FAT, type testing, and field troubleshooting.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to product performance, safety, and manufacturability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- MUST HAVE experience in mechanical and electrical projects/design
- MUST HAVE MEDIUM VOLTAGE experience
- Provide design direction for customer review drawings to meet consumer needs and manufacturing demands
- Previous experience mentoring and leading a team of mechanical engineers
- Develop and design 3D models specific for switchboard assembly
- Experience in electrical systems, circuit breakers, component wiring, and busbar routing
- Actively contributes to product design as a member of the technical team on product development projects
- Regular adherence to procedures in the Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Continuous assessment of opportunities for improvement

Salary : $130,000 - $140,000
