What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Engineer position at Judco Manufacturing, Inc?
1. General Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineer supports injection molding manufacturing and related activities. Responsible for manufacturing of plastics. Must verify manufacturing activities be performed in accordance to automotive, IATF, and Judco practices. The ME is responsible for driving effective corrective actions, resolution, new/existing processes for molding.
2. Role and Responsibilities - Areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Process Development: Develop, establish, and document robust injection molding processes using scientific molding principles
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Collaborate with product design and tooling teams to optimize part designs and mold layouts before production begins
- Validation & Tooling: Lead process trials, root-cause analysis, and full equipment validations
- Continuous Improvement: Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce cycle times, minimize scrap, and maximize overall production efficiency
- Troubleshooting: Resolve production floor issues related to molding defects (e.g., short shots, flash, sink marks), material inconsistency, or tooling wear
- Ensures ECN’s, line changes are implemented according to direction
- Must participate in internal/external 8D’s and other methodologies for corrective actions
- Conduct investigations for molded component issues during production for part quality
- Develop and train machine operators/inspectors for the “how to”; perform quality inspections on manufacturing/production processes
- Perform any necessary design of experiment to ensure industry/Judco standards
- Work with design engineers to define the inspection plan based on engineering criteria
- Support engineering fit, form, function and manufacturing/production targets
- Develops reports and disseminates the information to engineering for issues in manufacturing/production
- Occasional interaction with customers or vendors
Qualifications and Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a closely related field
Preferred Skills:
- 3-5 years practical experience in an engineering role, with a focus on quality and manufacturing
- Deep understanding of thermoplastic or elastomer resins, tool steels, and mold actions
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing and assembly plant processes, procedures, tooling, equipment and facilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of probability, statistical quality control and design of experiments
- Demonstrated ability to investigate/root cause analysis
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and lead diverse cross-functional teams
- High level of verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills\
3. WORKING HOURS - Base Schedule
- From: 7:30 am To: 4:30 pm
- Normal Work Week: Monday To: Friday

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
