As a healthcare provider you will be responsible for creating a high standard of preventative care. You must be skilled in communicating to patients the importance of their oral health and how you can help them. You’ll work hand in hand with our doctor in uncovering patients wants and need and educating them on how we can help. You should have deep knowledge of relevant health and safety rules and a good eye for oral diseases and anomalies. If you share our values and our passion for people, we would love to meet you!
Responsibilities
- Establish excellent standard of care and patient experience
- Understand patients wants, needs, goals as it relates to their oral health and smile
- Build Relationships with patients
- Fill your schedule
- Conduct initial mouth screenings and check oral health history
- Identify and treat conditions like gingivitis, caries or periodontal disease
- Educate patients of all ages of the importance of their oral health and proper home care (by demonstrating, for example, good brushing techniques)
- Educate patients on how we can improve their health or smile - i.e. fluoride, periodontal treatment, bite guard, sealants, whitening, Invisalign, etc.
- Give instructions to patients after operations or other dental procedures
- Take X-rays or dental impressions
- Assist dentists in their examinations and patient education
- Maintain documentation and charts on each patient
- Present treatment plans
- Cross train for minimal administrative task
Skills
- A passion for helping people
- Energetic and positive attitude
- Proven experience as Dental Hygienist
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA)
- Outstanding communication skills
- Ability to build relationships with patients
- Attention to detail
- Comfortable discussing periodontal disease/ educating treatment of periodontal disease and other preventative treatments
- Valid license to practice
- BLS/CPR certification
