Front Counter Parts Specialist

The Front Counter Parts Specialist’s main duty is to determine the customer’s needs based on parts inspection and conversation, including in person, over the phone and via our web-based text-to-chat platform. The parts specialist must also act as cashier and ring up customers.
The Front Counter Parts Specialist also provides a welcoming environment for customers and essentially acts as the first point of contact with the public. They do this by greeting and triaging customers, phone calls, text queries and sales to achieve a uniform and consistent positive customer experience.
This is a great position for someone who has worked as an auto mechanic or auto parts specialist and has trailer knowledge, for example.
If you don’t have previous experience working as a cashier we will train you. If you only know the basics of trailers and towing we still encourage you to apply, and we may be able to train you on specifics. Applicants with more extensive knowledge of trailers and towing will have the greatest advantage in the hiring process.
JTI Trailers is Cleveland’s premiere trailer dealership, founded in 1935. We service, repair, perform maintenance and inspections on non-CDL trailers. We also install and service trailer hitches and snow and ice equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
· Education Required: High School Diploma.
· Experience Required: Experience in automotive or trailer parts sales.
· Strong verbal and written English communication
· Basic mechanical knowledge of trailers/towing accessories
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Computer skills: Typing, data entry, file organization, general computer skills.
· Working with cash: able to make change quickly and without difficulty.
· Multitasking: Able to work on several projects at once and able to handle continuous interruptions, either from coworkers or by the telephone.
· Independent analytical and problem-solving skills
· Physical Requirements: Standing, sitting, and walking for 8 hours per day. Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
· Use of basic measuring tools including tape measure.
Preferred Qualifications
These are not requirements but may give you an advantage in the hiring process.
· 2-3 years experience in an automotive setting or trailer setting
· Customer service experience
· Ability to communicate in Spanish is a BIG plus.
· Previous experience as a cashier is also a plus.
· Experience filing or clerical experience is a plus
Compensation
Pay is hourly, commensurate with experience. You will also receive a commission on sales.

Responsibilities – the key responsibilities for this position include:
· Determine customer needs based on parts inspection and/or description of malfunction.
· Inform, educate and sell customers on the use, features and substitutions of parts and products.
· Examine returned parts for defects, and warranty qualifications.
· Prepare invoices and receive payment or obtain credit authorization for customers as needed.
· Stock, organize and price products on the showroom shelves on a daily basis.
· Complete and adjust a 50 item inventory cycle count on a weekly basis.
· Deliver adjustment reports to the Parts Manager.
· Maintaining a well-groomed, professional appearance, appropriate for the position and situation.
· Assist the Parts Manager in the training of all new employees as requested/required.
· Helps to attain or exceed the established revenue and profit goals for the store.
· Responsible for running an accurate cash register and controlling all money in the proper manner as instructed by the Parts Manager.
· Acts upon all customer complaints. Refers all unsettled complaints to the Parts Manager.
· First point of contact with the public as Public Relations and Customer Service Representative. Greet customers in a friendly and professional way and help them to the appropriate person/area/department.
· Screens incoming telephone calls and walk-in visitors.
· Answers telephone calls within four (4) rings, routes calls, and takes messages, as necessary.
· Assists in planning and implementing seasonal rotation of Showroom merchandise.
· Performs filing, typing, data entry, and other clerical support to other departments, as assigned by management.
· Prepares and distributes internal communications and serves as a central clearing position for general information.
· Maintaining a well-groomed, professional appearance, appropriate for the position and situation.
· Maintains personal work area, waiting area and showroom in a neat and clutter free condition free from mud/dirt/snow.
Position
· 40 hours per week - Full-time
· Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM; rotating Saturdays 8 AM to 2 PM
