What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator B, 2nd & 3rd shift position at JTEKT/Koyo Bearings?
Summary/Purpose
Primary function is to operate and maintain adjustments of various processes, manual / automated machines and manipulators in the high-volume production of quality bearings.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
- Reads work instructions for product specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
- Turns valves / coolant lines to direct flow of coolant at the work piece.
- Observes operation of grinding machines and verifies conformance of work piece to specifications and dimensional tolerances as well as visually inspects parts for non-conformance.
* Follow standard operating production procedures and work instructions. Perform work in a systematic manner when possible to insure all steps are carried out in proper sequence.
- Perform operational preventative maintenance according to schedules.
- Read dial indicators and other measuring devices to insure quality standards are met. If the grind or assembly process is causing quality issues, the machine operator will stop production and consult with the Setup and/or Floor Supervisor.
- Assist Setup personnel during operation by giving information, making minor machine adjustments &/or tool settings.
- Record production results on an hourly basis.
- Perform quality checks and handle scrap as required.
- Properly disposition process rejects in appropriate areas.
- Responsible for all “5-S” and daily housekeeping on a daily basis. Performs major cleanup as required.
- Follow and complete daily work assignments as directed by Setup Associates and Floor Supervisor.
- Associates are accountable on a daily basis to the Setup Associate and Floor Supervisor.
- Maintain Traceability records by recording component serial numbers
- Train other associates as directed.
- Other Duties as Assigned.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Occasional pushing and pulling of forging and finish good baskets.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
