Accounting Specialist

We are searching for a motivated Accounting Specialist to join our Team!

Under supervision of the COO, the Accounting Specialist will support financial operations by managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This position requires an individual who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while adhering to accounting best practices and regulatory standards.

Minimum Requirements

• BA/BS degree with an accounting or finance focus preferred
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial administration

Duties and Responsibilities

• Process and record deposits accurately and in a timely manner
• Review positive pay exceptions with the bank and approve or reject as appropriate
• Review vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness; record invoices into accounting software
• Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll using Paylocity cloud-based payroll system
• Maintain accurate ledgers and complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
• Manage monthly and annual financial close processes
• Generate financial reports using Sage 50 (Peachtree) accounting software
• Oversee trust accounts and prepare reconciliation reports for clients
• Coordinate annual tax filings with an outside CPA firm
• Ensure financials and internal controls comply with GAAP
• Submit stop payment requests to the bank, as needed
• Assist with internal audits, documentation, and administrative reporting
• Provide support to administrative and leadership staff as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles, and financial reporting
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks or comparable accounting software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, functions, and filtering
• PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times
