What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry-Level General Laborer – Wood Shop position at JT Industrial Designs?
We're hiring entry-level General Laborers to join our small, family-owned custom furniture shop in Sherman, TX. No advanced woodworking experience required — we'll train the right person. If you're reliable, hardworking, and enjoy hands-on work, we'd love to have you on our team.
What You'll Do
- Assist with operating machinery to help build custom furniture pieces
- Read and follow instructions under supervisor guidance
- Keep work areas clean and assist with equipment maintenance
- Move materials using hand trucks, carts, or forklifts (if certified)
- Inspect parts and finished products for quality and defects
- Safely lift and handle materials up to 75 lbs throughout the shift
Helpful Skills (Not Required — We'll Train You)
- Basic use of a tape measure, carpenter's square, or layout tools
- Familiarity with hand tools or power tools (sanders, saws, drills, clamps)
- Any warehouse, shop, assembly, or trade experience is a plus
