Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

JSS Almonds and JSS Almonds Specialty Products is a fast growing processing, marketing and product development company in Bakersfield, CA. Our facility specializes in almond processing, pasteurization, roasting and nut butter manufacturing.

Job Description:

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring employee safety, product quality and efficient/timely production. This is accomplished by leading diverse team of approximately 25 employees ranging from equipment operators to forklift drivers, and collaborating with the Quality, Maintenance and Management teams. The role is pivotal in leading and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement while upholding high standards of product integrity, safety and cleanliness.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee production and warehouse activity during shift
• Support and supervise all production staff to ensure quality of product being produced meets company standards and buyer specifications
• Ensure all operations equipment is calibrated, verified and functioning as designed
• Motivate and direct team for continuous improvement
• Oversee scheduled inspections and sanitation of equipment as specified by SOPs and SSOPs, along with written records associated with those tasks
• Direct staff to adjust equipment in real time should state of input/output change during run
• Assist QA/QC team in performing physical and visual check of all output product to ensure it meets company standards and buyer specifications
• Follow production plan and coordinate with team to stage/batch product and maintain product flow throughout line
• Be an active member of the HACCP team, perform any required adjustments, review changes to the plan and maintain records
• Ensure all paperwork, logs and data entry are done properly, timely and orderly
• Assure all policies, procedures and directives are followed by team members
• Train team members on various safety and equipment/processes
• Other duties as assigned by Plant Manager

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent required. Some College is preferred
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment, experience with nuts preferred
• High level written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills
• Advanced knowledge in troubleshooting equipment/process problems and ability to propose solutions.
• General knowledge of food safety practices and GMPs required
• Ability to climb, reach, bend, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs
• Essential computer skills using Windows applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook
• Ability to build and lead a team, develop employees and strive for continuous improvement
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Pay Range: $70,000 - $85,000, and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.

Work Environment:

This position requires the ability to perform various physical activities such as heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) standing on concrete floors for extended periods of time, moving parts and loud noise. Must be able to work with chemicals and equipment as needed. Must be able to work various shifts as assigned by Manager.
