Position Responsibilities

  • Design, lead and execute experiments for developing new products that fit customers’ needs. This includes formulation, resist processing, metrology characterization, simulations and use of other resources that contribute to product development.
  • Design, lead and execute experiments to develop next generation patterning materials and patterning solutions, as well as new products for existing patterning solutions.
  • Investigate the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions of new lithography materials or new patterning solutions.
  • Provide onsite technical support in fabrication environment as needed, including new product evaluations, as well as troubleshooting.
  • Communicate experimental results to the R&D team to ensure group learning.
  • Collaborate with and mentor JSR R&D in Japan, off-site JSR engineers, strategic vendors, and strategic partners which may include customers, academics or consortiums, for existing lithography challenges as well as for development of the next generation patterning solution from day-to-day communication to formal collaboration. This may include supportive functions for off-site JSR engineers.
  • Lead and implement sound product development practices from initial formulation to small samples to high volume manufacturing. This includes, but is not limited to: design review, customer requirements (present and future), production capability and material extendibility, working closely with engineering and production groups to understand and lead material and product scale-up, and working closely with functional and analytical groups to understand and lead product characterization, specifications and process control systems.
  • Oversee and lead technical account responsibilities and provide day-to-day support for multiple customers:
  • Act as point-of-contact for technical issues from customers
  • On-site technical support in a fabrication environment, including new product evaluations as well as troubleshooting.
  • Understand customer requirements and responsible for customer satisfaction in all vendor-customer interactions which may include day-to-day conversation, data exchange, sample quality/performance, logistics etc.
  • Continue to stay up to date on latest lithography trends.
  • Communicate project needs and provide feedback for on-going and/or future development activities through accessing next generation patterning tools. This may include any type of joint development work with strategic customers. Also need to communicate with Sunnyvale team on key learnings.
  • Occasionally travel to customer locations for face-to-face presentations to review development progress and latest product offerings for advanced materials
  • Occasionally collaborate with strategic vendors (equipment, complementary material companies, etc.) to propagate win/win relationships for JSR that will contribute to future product development and customer support
  • Identify and capture new business opportunities at key customer sites, including effectively engaging the appropriate decision makers, anticipating customer requirements, and incorporate their needs into existing development activities and projects.
  • Follow up on technical requests, taking the lead on meetings and phone conferences, including gathering and presenting necessary data packages. Maintain a thorough understanding of JSR’s photolithography product line and design and execute experiments that enable improvements to existing products, as well as generate new products that fit customers’ needs.
  • Monitor the market for new opportunities or competitive threats to existing business. Maintain a high level of technical competence for effective market penetration of new business products.
  • Cultivate new and existing accounts with core JSR products.
  • Make suggestions for improvements and develop new methods and procedures to improve efficiencies.

Skills & Experience Requirements

  • 3-4 years working with semiconductor material processing
  • 3-4 years hands on experimental planning and execution experience (knowledge of Electron Microscope, FT and Defect metrology)
  • 3-4 years working with semiconductor materials wafer processing experience in lab or clean room
  • 3-4 years of hands-on experience with any lithography or metrology tools in semiconductor fab or customer/vendor facility
  • 3-4 years of scientific data analysis and interpretation experience
  • MS Office expertise plus intermediate JMP, Chemsketch, virtual lithography patterning simulation skills
  • 3-4 years’ experience in semiconductor fab operations
  • 1-2 years of project management or technical project management experience
  • 1-2 years of customer support experience plus some experience working with sales team
  • 1-2 years supporting customer projects, technical data package preparation and presentation
  • Ability to gather tactical and strategic information on our own and competitor performance strongly preferred

Education Qualifications

  • BS/MS/PhD degree in chemistry, physics or physical science or equivalent experience
