Job Description – B-Level Automotive Technician
A B-Level Automotive Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of vehicles with minimal supervision. This position requires strong mechanical skills, the ability to perform advanced maintenance and repair procedures, and experience using diagnostic equipment and repair software.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle inspections and identify mechanical or electrical issues
- Diagnose drivability concerns using scan tools and diagnostic equipment
- Complete repairs on brakes, suspension, steering, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and engine components
- Perform preventative maintenance services including oil changes, tune-ups, belts, hoses, and fluid services
- Remove and replace major components such as radiators, alternators, starters, water pumps, and suspension parts
- Conduct road tests to verify repairs and diagnose issues
- Maintain accurate repair orders and documentation
- Recommend additional repairs or maintenance when necessary
- Follow shop safety procedures and maintain a clean work area
- Assist and support entry-level technicians as needed
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of automotive repair experience preferred
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
- Knowledge of domestic and import vehicle systems
- Familiarity with automotive repair software and scan tools
- ASE certifications preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment
- Must own a basic set of automotive tools
