Controls System Technician

JSM Airport Services is seeking a highly motivated Control Systems Technician. This is an advanced level position with varied responsibilities, including, but not limited to, the maintenance of the airport Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) at the Denver International Airport.

Compensation:

Hourly Compensation: Starting at $35.77 (Dependent on Experience)

City and County of Denver Prevailing Wage Schedule will also apply (up to an additional $8.93 in fringe benefits.
 
Responsibilities:    

• Perform all the duties assigned to the Entry Support Mechanics (ESM's) and Machinery Maintenance Mechanics (MMM's), in addition to the following routine inspections, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and emergency maintenance of complex components within the system based on an established maintenance program
• Perform cleaning of all parts of the BHS, as well as all surrounding areas
• Resolve difficult controls, electrical, and mechanical problems
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and rebuild complex electro-mechanical systems and conveyor components including, but not limited to, programmable logic controllers, input and output modules, electrical switches, variable frequency drives, 110V AC and 24V DC controls devices, automatic tag readers, electrical control panels, 110V - 480V AC components and motors, gearboxes, bearings, rollers, sheaves, hydraulic systems, conveyor belting, clutch brakes, tools, independent carrier systems, and other complex devices using basic hand tools, power tools, welders, and specialized mechanical and electrical tools
• Clear and reset mechanical, electrical, and controls faults, as well as baggage jams, which may require physically moving baggage during these failures
• Read and interpret manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
• Provide on-site training and competency evaluations of Machinery Maintenance Mechanics (MMM's) and Entry Support Mechanics (ESM's)
• Safety and Compliance Training as Required.
• Collateral duties as required

Qualifications: 

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Minimum of three (3) years of mechanical experience
• Capable of working without direct supervision for more than fifty (50%) of the time
• Capable of completing a task with minimal supervision (after proper training)
• Fully proficient with, and capable of operating, mechanical hand tools

Physical Requirements: 

• Able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
• Able to sit, stand, push, pull, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, or crawl on a frequent basis
• Able to frequently lift/move items that may range in weight up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds
• Able to withstand exposure to hot, cold, wet, or other weather-related conditions
