Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for multiple GIS Technicians to fill contract positions in Birmingham, Alabama. Only local candidates will be accepted.

Job Description

• Input, processing, and maintenance of Power Distribution Lines and Equipment assets in an ESRI GIS database
  
  

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Bachelor’s degree (Geography, GIS, or similar field), GIS Certificate, or at least 2 years of full time GIS work experience is required
• Power Distribution knowledge is a plus
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS software required
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro software is a plus
• Competency with standard computer software, to include Microsoft Office suite is required
• Capable of working in a team environment is required
• Experience with CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) is a plus
• Flexible to work 40 hours per week, M-F, in an office environment in Birmingham, Alabama.
• Shifts may be 8 or 10 hours per day, starting as early as 7am and ending as late as 5pm.
• Flexible to work remotely (from home) as well.
• Remote work requires stable broadband Internet connection of 20mb/s or capable of supporting remote desktop connections over VPN and is responsibility of worker.
• Note: Following an estimated training period of ~3 months in Birmingham, AL (duration may vary by individual), the role may transition to primarily remote work, with occasional in-office requirements for meetings, training, or other business needs.
• However, only candidates currently residing locally will be considered.
• Those willing to relocate will not be eligible.
• Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance to the Birmingham office, as per diem will not be provided for any on-site requirements.
  
  

This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.
