Duties
- Safely operate CDL A tractor-trailers and specialized trucks such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to transport freight across multiple routes.
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securement of goods.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns before departure and after arrival.
- Execute route driving with precision, adhering to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies to ensure safe delivery schedules.
- Manage freight delivery by securing loads properly and verifying shipment accuracy against documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status, route changes, or any incidents encountered during transit.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, cargo details, and delivery records in compliance with regulatory standards.
Experience
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record demonstrating safe driving habits.
- Proven experience operating tractor-trailers or similar heavy-duty trucks in commercial settings.
- Familiarity with driving manual transmission vehicles preferred but not required; training available for qualified candidates.
- Experience handling various types of freight including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and hazardous materials is a plus.
- Knowledge of load securement techniques for different cargo types such as freight on flatbeds or in tankers.
- Ability to perform basic truck maintenance checks and troubleshoot common mechanical issues.
