Project Location – On-site in Brooklyn, NY 112381 (Need Local candidate)
Duration- 3- 6 months contract
Visa- USC/ GC Only
MOI: Virtual and Final May be In-Person (its upto the client)
Position Overview: The NG911 Network Engineer will design, evaluate, and support advanced network architecture solutions for mission-critical 9-1-1 call-taking and dispatch environments. This role works closely with project managers, vendors, and IT teams to ensure that NG911 systems are built for maximum performance, stability, and availability, while adhering to security and operational standards.
This is a senior-level engineering role requiring deep expertise in telephony/audio systems, network design, and troubleshooting in high-availability environments.
Responsibilities
Network Architecture & Design
- Evaluate and recommend network architecture solutions that meet NG911 performance, stability, availability, and scalability requirements.
- Design network topologies and infrastructure to support new 9-1-1 applications and operational workflows.
- Develop and maintain network architecture standards aligned with the overall NG911 system design.
Vendor & Project Collaboration
- Partner with vendors and project managers to review designs, technologies, and implementation plans.
- Ensure vendor solutions comply with architecture standards, security frameworks, and lifecycle considerations.
Operational Governance & Best Practices
- Advise internal teams on network policies, procedures, and infrastructure best practices.
- Support the development and execution of configuration standards, network hardening, and lifecycle management activities.
System Lifecycle & Configuration Management
- Develop and coordinate lifecycle management plans in collaboration with IT Services.
- Review and define configurations, asset inventories, and security controls for all NG911 network systems.
Requirements Management
- Lead the requirements management process, including elicitation, documentation, validation, and verification of NG911 network requirements.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
(Candidates without these qualifications will not be considered.)
Technical Expertise
- Minimum 15 years of senior-level experience as an audio/telephony systems Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Minimum 15 years of experience with technical applications, platforms, or network engineering methodologies.
Network Architecture & Design
- Proven ability to design scalable network topologies and architectures for enterprise or mission-critical systems.
- Experience developing network solutions that support high-availability and growth.
Routing & Switching
- Strong proficiency with:
- Routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP
- Switching technologies: VLANs, STP, L2/L3 switching
TCP/IP & Addressing
- In-depth understanding of the TCP/IP suite.
- Ability to design and implement IPv4/IPv6 addressing, subnetting, and routing plans.
Network Troubleshooting
- Skilled in diagnosing and resolving complex network issues using tools such as ping, traceroute, and packet analyzers (e.g., Wireshark).
- Deep experience performing root-cause analysis in production environments.
Standards & Protocols
- Strong knowledge of Ethernet, VLANs, and STP.
- Experience implementing IPv6 in enterprise environments.
Documentation & Reporting
- Ability to maintain detailed technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and system reports.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated learning agility and ability to quickly adopt new technologies.
- Experience with public safety systems, including system design, integration, quality assurance, and testing.
