Position Overview
JS Clark Leadership Academy, home of the Bulldogs, is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Computer Science Instructor to develop and teach engaging, hands-on computer science and technology courses for students in grades K–12. This part-time role is perfect for an experienced educator or technology professional who is passionate about sparking interest in coding, robotics, digital design, and computational thinking in young learners.

Working in our technology-rich, project-based learning environment on a beautiful new state-of-the-art campus, you will have the creative freedom to build exciting units that align with the Core Knowledge sequence while preparing students for the digital future. Small class sizes, supportive administration, and eager students make this an ideal position for someone who wants to make a lasting impact without full-time commitment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a progressive, age-appropriate computer science curriculum that includes coding (Scratch, Blockly, Python, JavaScript/HTML/CSS), robotics, game design, app development basics, 3D design/printing, digital citizenship, internet safety, and introductory AI concepts.
  • Deliver hands-on, project-based lessons where students create real games, websites, animations, robots, and applications they can proudly share with families.
  • Teach multiple sections across K–8 grade bands (schedule built collaboratively to fit candidate availability).
  • Integrate computer science with core subjects and extracurricular programs, including potential collaboration with our Media/Broadcast program (e.g., coding graphics or apps for live sports streams).
  • Assess student mastery through projects, portfolios, and demonstrations.
  • Maintain lab equipment, software, and inventory in our modern STEM/maker space.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support technology integration across the curriculum.
  • Participate in school events, professional development, and staff meetings as schedule permits.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education with Technology focus, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to teach or work effectively with elementary and middle school students
  • Strong proficiency with current educational technology tools (Scratch, Code.org, Tynker, Python, LEGO Robotics, Micro:bit, Minecraft Education, Roblox Studio, etc.)
  • Enthusiasm for making computer science fun, accessible, and inclusive for all learners
  • Ability to pass required background checks

Preferred Qualifications
  • Louisiana teaching certification or eligibility for ancillary certification
  • Experience with project-based learning, maker education, or STEM instruction
  • Industry background in software development, IT, or engineering combined with a desire to teach
  • Familiarity with Core Knowledge curriculum or similar rigorous content sequences

Benefits & Compensation
  • Competitive part-time salary based on experience and qualifications
  • Pro-rated benefits including health, life insurance, and 403(b) retirement plan with employer match
  • Family-oriented staff culture in a small, one-track K–8 school
  • Modern facilities with 1:1 devices and dedicated maker/STEM spaces
  • Genuine creative freedom and administrative support for innovative ideas
  • Opportunity to shape a growing computer science program from its early stages
