Job Title: Indirect Tax Accounting Manager
Location: Chicago, IL (Downtown)
Duration: Direct Hire, Full-Time
Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000 Annually
Bonus: 18–20% Annual Company Performance-Based Bonus

Responsibilities:
• Lead account reconciliations aligned with GAAP
• Ensure SOX compliance and maintain internal control documentation
• Analyze M&A activity for indirect tax impacts and opening balances
• Mentor and supervise indirect tax staff and service center operations
• Reconcile GL and intercompany accounts
• Maintain and review payment templates
• Manage 80 reconciliations and 600 monthly indirect tax returns
• Collaborate with senior leadership across multiple functions
• Ensure accuracy of data flowing through ERP and tax engine systems
• Support audit processes and prepare necessary documentation
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s in Accounting or Tax Law (Master’s preferred)
• 8 years of corporate tax accounting
• 5–7 years in indirect tax accounting (sales, property, excise, fuels, gross receipts)
• Strong experience with GAAP, SOX, account reconciliations
• Leadership experience in a tax/accounting setting
• Experience with intercompany transactions and journal entries
• SAP and Advanced Excel proficiency
• Familiarity with Vertex, Avalara, or OneSource
• Understanding of tax engine integration and ERP data mapping
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Valid driver’s license and passport
Preferred:
• M&A accounting experience
• Experience working with multinational or multistate organizations
• Exposure to system configurations during integrations
