Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, experienced Box Truck Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of FedEx delivery vehicles. You will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical failures, and executing repairs to ensure our trucks are safe, compliant with DOT regulations, and road-ready every day. Key Responsibilities include:
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine oil changes, fluid checks, brake inspections, and tire rotations to prevent breakdowns.
- Diagnostics: Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gas engines, transmissions, electrical systems, suspension, and air brake systems.
- DOT Compliance: Ensure all fleet vehicles meet stringent Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and FedEx safety standards.
- Record Keeping: Log all maintenance and repairs accurately using our fleet management software.
- Emergency Repairs: Respond quickly to roadside breakdowns or coordinate towing when necessary.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience as a diesel or heavy-duty mechanic (box trucks, step vans, or Class 6-8 trucks).
- Certifications: ASE certifications (Medium/Heavy Truck) are highly preferred.
- License: Valid Driver’s License (CDL is a major plus, but not always required). Clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is mandatory.
- Tools: Must have your own standard set of mechanic's tools. We have tools as well but great if you have your own.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of DOT regulations, air brake systems, and hydraulic liftgates.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Comfortable standing, bending, and working in various weather conditions
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Rate: Based on experience
- Schedule: Monday through Friday and some weekends (on call)
Pay: $180.00 - $250.00 per day
