Facility Care Specialist

JRK Seed is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Facility Care Specialist to support our production facility during evening hours. This hands-on, part-time role is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment after daily production activities conclude.

The Facility Care Specialist is responsible for cleaning and maintaining production areas, breakrooms, and other facility spaces to support smooth daily operations.

Schedule & Hours

• Evening hours 6p - 9p Monday - Friday
• Approximately 2–4 hours per shift, schedule may vary based on facility needs

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain production floors, workstations, equipment, and common areas
• Sweep, mop, scrub floors, and empty trash and recycling receptacles
• Maintain breakrooms and locker rooms, including restocking supplies
• Respond promptly to spills and immediate sanitation needs on the production floor
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Identify and report maintenance concerns or safety hazards in a timely manner

Qualifications & Competencies

• Previous custodial or janitorial experience, preferably in a production or industrial environment
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and proper handling/storage procedures
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety standards
• Reliable, flexible, and able to work independently or as part of a team
• Detail-oriented with the ability to independently manage time and workload
• Light mechanical aptitude a plus

Education & Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Prior janitorial or custodial experience preferred

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to:

• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and twist for extended periods
• Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly
• Climb ladders and stairs and work at varying heights
• Perform repetitive motions such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, shoveling, and operating cleaning equipment
• Safely grip and use hand tools and powered cleaning equipment
• Work in dusty environments with exposure to bird seed, grain dust, and cleaning chemicals while wearing required PPE
• Visually inspect areas for cleanliness, spills, debris, and safety hazards
• Respond quickly to sanitation needs to maintain a safe work environment
