Carpenter Apprentice Job Overview
JR Builders is seeking a dependable, motivated Carpenter Apprentice to join our growing team. This is not a general labor position. We are looking for individuals interested in building a long-term career in the skilled trades and construction industry.
The ideal candidate is hardworking, mechanically inclined, coachable, and capable of learning technical carpentry skills including measurements, layout, framing, blueprint reading, and finish work. You will work alongside experienced carpenters while gaining hands-on experience in residential and commercial construction projects.
We are seeking individuals who take pride in their work, communicate professionally, and are serious about developing skilled trade knowledge.
This is a physically demanding, fast-paced position with opportunities for advancement for the right individual.
Responsibilities
- Assist experienced carpenters with demolition, framing, trim work, siding, fixture installation, and general carpentry tasks
- Safely operate hand tools and power tools
- Read and follow blueprints, layouts, and project specifications
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install building materials accurately
- Support construction site operations including material handling, deliveries, and job site organization
- Assist with concrete forming, roofing, restoration work, and other construction activities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Follow all company safety standards and job site procedures
- Work efficiently as part of a professional construction team
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to pass a drug screening
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs regularly
- Must be available for early morning starts
- Some weekend work is required based on project schedules
- Basic familiarity with hand tools and power tools required
- Strong math and measuring skills required
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure required
- Ability to perform basic construction math, measurements, and material calculations required
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Previous construction experience OR enrollment/completion of a trade or vocational program strongly preferred
- Additional education in construction, drafting, engineering, architecture, or related fields is a plus
- Must be dependable, professional, punctual, and willing to learn
- Ability to communicate clearly and follow detailed instructions
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude required

- Previous construction experience
- Basic understanding of framing, woodworking, finishing, or construction principles
- Experience reading measurements and using construction tools
