The Accountant is a highly skilled individual who will own general accounting and corporate tax functions for a competitive automation organization. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, exceptional communication skills and the ability to partner closely with FP&A, Finance and Accounting teams to support general accounting functions and corporate tax reporting.
How You’ll Make An Impact
General Accounting Responsibilities
- Intercompany AR/AP monthly reconciliations
- Support the general ledger and trial balance, ensuring accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial data
- Perform journal entry preparation and posting
- Ensure proper classification and accounting treatment in accordance with IFRS
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and analysis (JSOX, Hitachi, and EY auditing)
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate accounting standards
- Review and approve balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve variances
- Coordinate financial close activities across multiple entity leads to meet reporting deadlines
- Prepare month-end reconciliation of all general ledger balance sheet tax accounts.
- Oversee sales and use tax obligations across the North American entities and complete timely filings
- Annual Filings Business tax, Registrations and Good Standing
- Avalara maintenance – exemption, certificate& registration status
- Oversee property tax filings and compliance with local regulations.
- Maintain monthly accruals and yearly returns. (PPT and BPPT)
- Government Tax Reporting; Dept of Labor and Bureau Economic Activity
- Maintain relationship with Hitachi America Limited(HAL) and complete necessary tax support
- Cross Boarder Transaction – supporting Finance teams and HAL reporting
- Maintain VAT/GST/HST activities
- Support quarterly, annual and ad hoc audits. (Income tax driven, DTA DTL, R&D items tied to HAL SOW)
- Experience supporting project-based billing or contract-driven revenue environments
- Proven ability to enforce policies while maintaining positive business relationships
- Strong leadership and coaching abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective management and organizational skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 6-8 years of progressive accounting and tax experience
- Experience in a large, multi-entity organization
- ERP system experience (e.g., SAP, Epicor, EcoSys or similar)
- Experience partnering closely with tax reporting agencies
- Proficient user of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
