Job Title: Home Health Aide
Supervisor: Joquetta Ezell
Schedule: Evening Shift
Classification: Non-Exempt
A home health aide provides care to patients in their homes or in facilities, such as group homes or retirement communities. Home health aides build positive relationships with clients. They may travel to a patient’s home to provide care, or they may work in facilities, such as group homes or hospice care facilities. The care is customized according to the clients’ care plan and can include all of the duties listed below.
Job Duties Can Include:
- Review Healthcare Plan at the beginning of each shift.
- Monitor Clients’ conditions and help them with various activities.
- Grocery shopping.
- Assist with meal prep.
- Feed Client; Manipulate food for easy consumption.
- Monitor while eating.
- Facilitate consumption of prescribed medication.
- Assist with toileting and changing of briefs.
- Assist with dressing and undressing.
- Assist with personal care such as filing nails, brushing teeth, and bathing as needed.
- Ensure a safe and clutter-free environment.
- Cue or redirect client for safety.
- Assist with ambulation and transfers.
- Complete housework.
- Firsthand help to cue or redirect.
- Transport client to and from appointments.
- Document change in clients’ baseline.
- Initiate or participate in activity, and re-approach as necessary.
- Submit a time card daily for hours worked.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Experience in providing adult care.
- Active listening.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to effectively build relationships.
Requirements:
- HCA Certification
- High School Diploma/GED
- Excellent Customer Service Experience.
- Food Handler Card
- First Aid/CPR/Bloodborne Pathogen Training
- TB Test
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all clients
- Must have reliable transportation to and from worksite locations
- Cheerful outlook.
