Description: The Recreational Therapist is responsible for the provision of activities groups to adult patients. The Recreational Therapist completes assessments, develops treatment goals, develops and provides Recreational Therapist services, and functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team.
Typical Duties:
- Develops, organizes and provides group recreation/activity services to adult patients. Activity groups may include psycho-educational groups, and living skills groups.
- Provides individual recreation therapy, as ordered by the patients’ physician.
- Participates in treatment planning for assigned patients; this includes assessments, documentation of services on patients’, treatment plans and active participation in treatment team meetings.
- Charts on each assigned patient per operating procedure. May maintain other records, as assigned.
- Maintains clinical competence for adult and geriatric recreation services. Exhibits professional growth and development.
- Participates in Adjunctive Therapy Performance Improvement and Department or Hospital Committees, as assigned.
- Maintains recreation/activity therapy supplies and equipment and orders supplies and equipment in accordance with budget.
- Performs other job related functions as required.
