Job Description

We are looking for a highly experienced Data Governance Consultant (10 years) to lead enterprise-level data governance and compliance initiatives. The consultant will drive data quality, metadata management, and governance across APIs, data models, and event-driven systems in a regulated financial services environment.

Primary Skill Set (Mandatory)

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field.
• 10 years of experience in data governance, data management, or enterprise data architecture.
• Strong understanding of API governance, lifecycle, and documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger, REST, GraphQL).
• Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms (e.g., Apache Kafka).
• In-depth knowledge of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM.
• Strong understanding of data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA, SOX, etc.).
• Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; proficient in Excel, SQL, and data analysis tools.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across business and technical teams.

Preferred Skill Set

• Experience in financial services or other regulated industries.
• Hands-on with data catalog and governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Informatica).
• Familiarity with API/event management platforms (Apigee, Kafka, MuleSoft).
• Relevant certifications in data governance, data management, or compliance (e.g., CDMP, DCAM).

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead reviews of data models, APIs, and events to ensure compliance with governance standards.
• Oversee metadata, schema, and lineage documentation for governed assets.
• Partner with business, architecture, and technology teams to enforce consistent governance practices.
• Develop and maintain data governance policies, controls, and quality standards.
• Deliver governance metrics, reports, and dashboards for leadership visibility.
• Drive training, awareness, and adoption of enterprise data governance best practices.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.43 - $60.73 per hour
