Position Overview
The Business Analyst in the Testing Center of Excellence (TCoE) plays a critical role in ensuring business requirements are clearly defined, testable, and aligned with quality objectives. This role focuses on embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle by acting as a bridge between Business, IT, Development, QA, and UAT teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Requirements Leadership & Business Analysis
- Lead requirements gathering through workshops, interviews, and cross-functional discussions.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation such as:
- Business Requirements Documents (BRDs)
- Use cases
- User stories
- Process flows
- Perform impact analysis for change requests, identifying risks, dependencies, and testing scope impacts.
- Quickly understand and adapt to utility business processes.
- Drive alignment and consensus across Business, IT, QA, Operations, and Leadership teams.
- Provide guidance to QA teams on test coverage, test strategy, and planning.
- Requirements Analysis & Validation
- Analyze requirements to ensure they are clear, complete, testable, and unambiguous.
- Break down high-level business needs into epics, features, and well-defined user stories.
- Facilitate stakeholder reviews to validate requirements meet real business needs.
- Ensure requirements are consistent with project scope and technical feasibility.
- Apply design thinking principles (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test) to improve solution quality.
- Testing Strategy, Governance & Optimization
- Maintain end-to-end requirements traceability within the TCoE framework.
- Act as a subject matter expert during test planning, execution, and defect triage.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and process maturity.
- Translate operational requirements into precise, testable system specifications.
- Promote quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
- Project Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with project teams on release planning, risk assessment, and go-live readiness.
- Support requirement clarifications during Functional Testing and UAT.
- Assist in defect analysis and participate in defect triage meetings.
- Communicate business impacts and technical changes clearly to both technical teams and leadership.
- Contribute to knowledge management, training improvements, and best practices.
- Support metrics-driven testing through dashboards and KPI reporting.
- Help optimize testing processes using automation, cloud, and AI-based tools.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst in an enterprise environment.
- Outage Management System (OMS)
- Oracle Utilities Analytics (OUA)
- Geographic Information System (GIS)
- Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)
- Customer Care and Billing (CC&B)
- Work Management Systems (e.g., IBM Maximo)
- Strong expertise in requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation, and management.
- Experience with process mapping (AS-IS / TO-BE) and workflow modeling.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Proven stakeholder management skills.
Certifications
- IIBA-CBAP
- IIBA-CCBA
- PMI-PBA
- Experience with test management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or ALM
- Working knowledge of SQL
- Understanding of functional, regression, system integration, and UAT testing
- Experience using Generative AI for:
- Requirements analysis
- Test case generation
- Test automation
- Familiarity with AI-driven testing tools (e.g., ACCELQ, testRigor)
- Prior experience working in a Testing Center of Excellence (TCoE) or Quality Engineering organization
- Experience with Agile/Scrum and Waterfall methodologies
- Knowledge of utility regulatory standards (NERC, PSC, FERC)
