Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced RPA Tech Lead proficient in Automation Anywhere who will lead design, development, implementation and delivery of intelligent automation solutions for our client. The Tech Lead will partner with business stakeholders, lead a team of RPA developers, enforce best practices, ensure scalable, maintainable automation, and oversee end-to-end project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the RPA engagement — from process discovery, design, architecture, through development, testing, deployment and support.
- Collaborate with business and operations stakeholders to identify automation opportunities, assess feasibility, quantify benefits, and prioritise candidate processes.
- Define and document business process requirements, functional specifications, BOT design documents, technical architecture, solution design and deployment plans.
- Lead and mentor RPA developers: review bot code, ensure adherence to design standards, build reusable components, oversee version control, library management and bot repository.
- Establish and enforce RPA governance, best practices, security controls, change management, environment management (Development, Test, Production), and incident handling.
- Oversee tool architecture: Control Room setup/configuration, bot runners, licensing, scheduling, exception handling, monitoring/bot‐insights, analytics.
- Manage environment migrations, upgrades/patches of Automation Anywhere, and integration with other systems (web services, REST/SOAP APIs, terminal emulators, Excel/PDF, etc.).
- Work closely with QA/Test and UAT teams to ensure high quality of bots; participate in sprint ceremonies, backlog grooming, sprint planning, demos and retrospectives in an agile delivery model.
- Provide status updates to project leadership, escalate risks, manage dependencies, and track SLAs/metrics for bot performance, uptime, and business value.
- Occasional travel to client site in Baltimore as required for workshops, stakeholder meetings, go-live support or escalations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8-12 years of experience in IT/automation projects with at least 4-6 years of hands-on RPA experience leading teams.
- Strong hands-on and architectural experience specifically with Automation Anywhere (versions v10, v11, A360 etc.).
- Experience designing and deploying modular & resilient bots; experience with Metabots, BotStore, Control Room, scheduling, licensing, bot performance monitoring. Hays 2United IT 2
- Proven ability to lead and guide teams of RPA developers, provide technical reviews and ensure code quality.
- Strong understanding of business process design & improvement (Lean/Six Sigma preferable).
- Experience integrating bots with heterogeneous systems (SAP, Oracle, Web applications, terminal emulators, Excel/PDF extraction, REST/SOAP web services) and handling exception scenarios. Hays 1
- Experience with agile methodology (scrum ceremonies, sprints) and working in a project delivery mode.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present to senior stakeholders and lead cross-functionally.
- Willing and able to travel to Baltimore for client engagements as required.
Desired (Nice-to-Have) Skills
- Certification in Automation Anywhere (Developer, Advanced, Master) or equivalent.
- Experience with other RPA tools (eg. UiPath, Blue Prism) for comparison/strategy.
- Exposure to programming/scripting languages (VB Script, .NET, C#, Python, SQL) for more advanced automation tasks.
- Experience building and leading an RPA Centre of Excellence (CoE) or governance practice.
- Cloud automation experience, API‐first automation, knowledge of RPA AI/ML (document automation, intelligent automation) is a plus.
- Experience in large enterprise or government/regulatory environments.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $23.78 - $28.64 per hour
