Position: District Police Officer
Reports to: Chief of Jenks Public Schools Police Department
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Higher education degree preferred but not required.
- State Certified Law Enforcement Officer (CLEET Certification) preferred.
- Demonstrated competence for human relationship and personal communication skills.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: To support the JPS community, while providing exceptional customer service and security to the students, staff and faculty in the community.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Adheres to and follows Jenks Public Schools policies and regulations as well as the policies and procedures of Jenks Public Schools Police.
- Patrols District buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and inappropriate and illegal activity.
- Conducts patrol inspections of building entrances and exits to determine building security
- Patrol’s school grounds to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles, to check cars for parking authorization, to determine if vehicles are parked improperly or in restricted areas and issue citations when appropriate.
- Reports any unusual conditions or malfunctions of heating, plumbing or electrical service.
- Maintains a proper log including but not limited to daily log, after-hours log, vehicle log and records of calls.
- Implements District emergency action procedures when appropriate.
- Prepares written reports as instructed by the Chief of Jenks Public Schools Police.
- Attends and completes assigned in-service training programs and maintains CLEET certification. Remain in good standing with the State of Oklahoma and Tribal agencies.
- Monitors and patrols during school activity events to ensure safety, security and orderly conduct of everyone.
- Creates a high visibility on school sites and in school buildings during the school day and at activity events with students and staff.
- Serves as a resource person to Principals and others, as requested, to address student groups on various aspects of school security.
- Must be able to obtain a cross deputization in accordance with other agencies in our jurisdiction.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the command staff.
Employment Terms: Twelve (12) month classified hourly contract
