Job Description:
Description: The Materials Management Team Lead is responsible for coordinating with Supervisor of the day-to-day operations, to assist in areas with the greatest need. Responsibilities include receiving, delivery of product, pulling orders, par area stocking, equipment cleaning and distribution.
Typical Duties
- Assists with planning, organizing and leading the daily activities of the unit area of the Supply Chain Logistics Department.
- Assists with administering employee assignments on a daily basis. Promotes communication and employee awareness.
- Assists with maintenance of the unit area to ensure proper organization and flow, cleanliness and customer service.
- Assists with establishing and modifying processes to increase department efficiency as needed. Works closely with Manager and Supervisor to develop and implement processes.
- Assists with providing oversight of unit activities to ensure established processes are followed for the automated issuing, receiving of incoming/outgoing supplies, scanning of all packing/picking slips and delivery tickets. Ensures mobile scanners are used in accordance to procedures.
- Assists with maintenance of unit area to include ensuring items are managed in a timely manner. Uses proper inventory principles to manage work units (i.e., First-In First-Out/FIFO method).
- Tracks, investigates and communicates discrepancies within unit to appropriate staff. Resolves matters expeditiously. Provides input to Manager regarding work performance and accuracy.
- Assists with promoting safe environment. Ensures that all safety standards are followed by employees and creates employee awareness.
- Acquires materials/supplies and places orders, inventories, receives and distributes. Reviews and tracks purchases through the purchasing process.
- Coordinates purchases for interdepartmental and intradepartmental customers by interacting with external businesses; e.g., vendors, agencies, delivery companies, etc.
- Provides and demonstrates good customer service behavior in the conduct of daily work interactions.
- May identify and report malfunctioning equipment to management for repair.
- Cleans, verifies and restocks designated specialty cart drawers as required.
- Cleans patient care equipment and provides equipment to clinical areas upon request.
- Maintains clean and orderly conditions in department.
- Checks clinical areas on a daily basis to ensure soiled equipment is removed and properly cleaned.
- Rounds clinical area managers on a monthly basis to ensure customer satisfaction and to address equipment issues.
- Coordinates with clinical staff to ensure specialty carts contain the appropriate supplies to administer patient care.
- Keeps warehouse organized and assists with maintenance of inventory.
- Prepares and ships out vendor returns.
- Distributes shipments and supplies when requested.
- Ensures that controlled activities (i.e., deliveries, shipping, receiving, inventory control process, etc.) are documented and maintained in a manner commensurate with accepted accountability standards.
- Operates carts, flatbeds and equipment to pick up and deliver materials and supplies. Assists in the planning, development and implementation of safety and security programs and activities.
- Performs the receiving functions for incoming shipments for supplies and equipment according to hospital and departmental policy.
- Rotates stock to assure oldest date stock is used first: First In, First Out/FIFO method.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- 4 plus years of progressive experience within the healthcare supply chain industry.
- 2 plus years of experience in an automated warehouse environment.
- Experience with Lawson MMIS
- 1 plus years of experience leading or managing teams or groups.
